Artist's Description

The giant Live Oak tree at the Alamo is believed to be over 140 years old. It was moved from a location 12 miles away in 1912 when it was already 38 years old, and successfully transplanted in the Alamo courtyard, having nothing to do with the historic battle that was fought there many years before. Cables that help support its heavy branches can be seen in the picture. The Alamo is a National Historic Landmark.
